Merry Christmas and a Happy 2014!

Dear Friends,

Merry Christmas and a Happy 2014!
Good will, success and happiness be with you this Christmas and wishing you a prosperous new year!
This letter is from the Innovv team with greetings and a look forward to what’s planned for the coming year.

We have been thrilled by the response to the Innovv C1 and C2 we introduced, most notably by RC Groups users and people on the DashCamTalk forum.

As people have learned from our blogs, Innovv was born for people on the forums.
When I first saw how active the discussion was on the forums about the key chain cams I was really surprised. There were questions, answers, posts of support and posts against.  After reading pages and pages of posts I understood that people love to share their experiences, not only for a camera which is tiny in size, has good video quality and is user friendly, but also to share the fun of their hobby!
Hopefully the Innovv will fulfill people’s hobby and bring fun too? We have seen some interesting photos from people on the forums for our new Innovv already.

In 2014, we will make significant improvements regarding the points below to build Innovv into a trusted brand with a good reputation amongst users.

More close communication with people.
Our website now has around 3000 monthly unique visitors.  People are viewing our new product introduction, specifications, downloading new FW and shopping.  Our target for 2014 is to double this to 6000!

The monthly blog page viewings are 2000 and the first blog I posted to RC Groups had a daily visit which reached 680. I like to write a blog because in it I can share my thoughts and ideas to users and potential buyers. 5000 monthly page views is the target in 2014.

The forums and posts.  Innovv improvement and update depends on the forums. This year it is in RC groups and DashCamTalk and in 2014 will be introduced to more forums.  Posts to communicate with people are very important though I hesitated to make my first post because I was worried because English is not my native tongue. It’s encouraging that people are happy to see the developer on a forum answering questions first hand. In the new  year I’ll spend more time communicating with people on forums and hopefully will improve the quality of my posts!

The new development and upgrading.
After the C1, we soon introduced the C2 to people after learning more of people’s needs. I expect in 2014, people will see new features and functions. The product development has finished, but upgrading is just beginning. New FW updates and GUI improvements will be made too.

Shipping and delivery.
We have had 3 parcels lost on the way to the UK. Everyday people are asking me, where is my camera?Un-Safe and not fast shipping is a big headache for us.  We are working on solutions to this problem and our target for 2014 is a 7 day delivery time, or even better, 4 days after purchasing. That way people will be happier to buy.

Regardless of these challenges, we are pushing ahead to create a successful 2014. This is the spirit that will put Innovv at the forefront of the industry, fulfill people’s hobbies and create fun!

I am so proud of all the changes and improvements the team made and it’s good to know that we are not alone and are supported by people on the forums who encourage us to do our best work.

Thank you again and I wish our readers and users a new year filled with personal and professional success and happiness.

Sincerely,

Rock with Innovv Team

To RC People

This blog is fromInnovv Team for people on the RC Group.

Innovv C1 was born and We’d like to introduce it to people on the forum.

I fully understand that people will associate the Innovv with the team of the #18, and will assume that support and communication for the Innovv C1 will be no different to that for the #18 or #26. Firstly, I can tell people that while Innovv has support from the team of #18, it operates independently. (More information regarding this can be found from the blog.)

Due to the association behind, Innovv C1 and Mobius, People should compare with these two cameras,

Mobius has been a great success,

Ø         People are talking about it everyday,

Ø         It has a good reputation and is successor to the #16,

Ø         Tom Frank has over ten years experience in managing and leading discussion on the forum to support on Mobius threads.

Ø         Isoprop is supporting on FW and new development, communication with people in technology.

But at the moment what does the Innovv has?

Ø         The poor reputation from #26,

Ø         People’s doubt in the new development,

Ø         No support on the forum.

Does all the above mean Innovv has no future?

No. I strongly believe the Chinese words below,

Gold should be shiny the end.

People will find the facts by time being.

What can we do to improve things?

Ø         I am willing to take some of the blame for the lack of support from the team of #18,

Ø         I believe a high cost has been paid for such mistakes,

Ø         We will learn from these mistakes,

Ø         Innovv and I will be listening to people,

Ø         We intend to improve communication and be more supportive after sales and with FW upgrading.

Below is our strategy to gain people’s trust and bring Innovv a bright future. It is very simple,

Ø         Close communication with users,

Ø         Much better support regarding software and operating issues,

Ø         Developing a product with full passion and make it as good as gold.

The first step we have taken since Innovv was born is to communicate with Charles (Chuck) Lohr. He has introduced Innovv C1 to the forum, and we have seen the comments which are very fair.

Innovv- it is from the word Innovate. To Innovate. To Explore everyday.

I want to bring the change since it was born!

From the blog-the design and development of Innovv C1, and the big day for the InnovvC1, people will know how hard I have worked, but it is not the end. At the moment FW improvements are continuing and the GUI is being optimized. As happens with any new product, there is always room for some improvement in the light of experiences from its users!

For now I just want to people have a look at the Innovv C1 to see its design, and see how well it works. My goal is “See it, Touch it, Like it”

Anyhow, thank you for reading and your understanding is appreciated. Please trust me that I am full on with product development and improvement. I will be here listening and will have more communication with people, including exchange of ideas to produce the best small HD 1080 video camera on the market.

Let’s stand together, make the change happen!

THE BIG DAY FOR THE INNOVV™ C1

Today, Nov. 24th 2013, is the big day for the Innovv C1. It is the day the product is finally ready. People can now order it! And have the C1 in their hand, see it, touch it, and like it.

Everyday I`ve received emails asking the status of the product and when it will be ready, It`s great to see that people like the C1, but I've also been under heavy pressure to bring this product to people quickly!

Thanks to everyone who has given me their support during the development stage. I've been very encouraged by their messages, here are some,

I like the stylish look of the camera and the metal feel in the hand. The Innovv C1 is very fashionable.  It would look good on the dash board of a Lexus, or at the table of a nice restaurant.  It might also be a sports camera and functional as a 1080p pocket camera but it would appeal to and sell to both men and women.- from Charles Lohr.

Now product looks even more attractive than its design -from Niko

Hi guys, attractive design, well done, Is the product ready? Can I know when I can place the order?

Hello, I first saw your product from the forum, it caught my eyes. I have a question, How does Auto-video flip work? I can not find more information on it. Is it 180º degree rotation, How about 90º? when can I buy one?

Guys, I like your slogan, See it, Touch it, Like it. You are smart! I first saw it from your Google advertising and clicked. When can I touch it?

Hi, I downloaded raw video materials and impressed its video quality, I saw most videos were taken on train and train station, GZ and SZ, what does that mean? Is your office beside of train station?

Hi, How hot C1 is? I know the aluminum body is light, good heat conduction, you are smart to make a good material selection, I have a headache with my Mobius under sun inside of the car.

Hi guys, I read your blog, very interesting, start up is not easy, keep doing it.

Hi, I have the problems with my #26, I hope you can make a change if the story you told is true. When can I buy one?

Hello, awesome product, It could be colorful. When can I order one to make side by side testing with Mobius? You win in the design, if video quality is better, that is great.

I appreciate people who sent me money to pre-order the product even before the ready date was not confirmed, As a thank you for people’s trust, all pre-orders will receive a free DHL delivery and the overpaid will be refunded!
And other big news to announce is Innovv C1 retail price is reduced from $99.80 to $69.00

Today is also a big day for me. Now I can hold the camera in my hand, before I could only see it in my mind. And I am proud that people are saying the real product is more attractive than its design. Looking back, there have been many days and nights of hard work which only a real passion can support.

To conceive a product and turn it into a real product is always amazing and challenging.
Get it started with a big dream; We are ready for next challenge!

DIMIKA and Mycrocam – Who copied Whom?

What’s your first impression after seeing the product below and its specification?
It is a nice product, good design.

But then what do you think when you see the product below?
You’ll no doubt be surprised at the similarity and the first idea in your mind might be who copied whom?

Below is the true story of these two very similar products.

DIMIKACAMERA.COM was registered on 12-Sep-2013.
And the product is now just released.

The picture below shows when the Mycrocam 720 was created.
2012,
Yes, 2012!

For more information for Mycrocam, you can check the links below

Here is the history of the Mycrocam 720.

808 #18 team started to develop the PCB board for Mycrocam 720 at end of 2011.
Since early 2012 up to now, the 808 #18 team has received a plastic shell from a plastics factory, assembled the PCB board and plastic shell together for shipping to Germany.
Now a few questions,
You’ve read all the above information,
  • What do you think about these two cameras?

If Mycorcam, DIMIKA both read above information,
  • What will Mycrocam do now?
  • What will DIMIKA do now?
Hopefully you’ll recall and agree with the sentiments expressed in my last blog.
‘Two far different business strategies,’ and products of good quality not cheap fakes.

Back to Innovv,
Only to innovate, to create new product, to build its reputation and trust with people.

The design and development of Innovv™

If people have knowledge or experience of the Chinese electronics industry, they will know of Huaqiangbei.  It’s one of largest electronics markets in China and the world with10 thousand retail outlets, more than 20 shopping malls and a daily traffic of more than 0.5 million people.

Why is it so large and successful? The only reason is you can find any electronics part and any product there at the low possible price!  Why do they have the lowest possible price? Because of competition.  There are over 0.3 million electronics manufactures within 120km! But the competition is tough, ever tough. When struggling to survive the manufacturers must keep costs down, always using cheaper materials and also making fake and copied products, So not only the “Lowest possible price”, but “Poor quality” and “Counterfeit” are Huaqiangbei’s other reputation. This has a big negative impact on “Made in China”.

On the other side of the coin, Apple , Samsung, Huwei, Sony and many others have most of their products made within this area. And because the advantages of design, development, technology, manufacturing process and supply chain, no other place can compete.

When we started to design and develop the new camera, I was looking toward these big brands, not the fake products. I stayed in Huaqiangbei over 6 years, worked for US and German companies and was trained in the EU.  I had a business partner in one of my best friends from Japan. I fully understand the two far different business strategies. Huaqiangbei can mean quick money and short product life, but with high design and development of capacity, strict quality management, Apple, Samsung made world’s leading products, I would like to be second one.

“Design wise”, Dashmellow said on the forum something I agree with exactly. Since the product and brand are new, to catch people’s attention and interest it should be different to others. It needs to be “Fresh” and valuable. I dug into in Huaqiangbei to find a product which would might catch my eye and inspire me. I found it, a “Power bank”, with a fresh color and fresh look. In the end we gave up the idea because there were big radii on the corners that required a big PCB size, but I knew now what the new product should be. The next essential element, as Dashmellow mentioned, we got from the Ipod nano. Why not? Fantastic design!

A few years ago I worked with my business partner from Japan and the website developer from UK and we created a world leading B2B website with its logo and I learned how to make design simple. I worked with a passion day and night and the new logo and website were born! People said it is nice and I am proud of that!

The logo, website, product design and the camera development all aim to be up-market and stylish. See it, Touch it, Like it. The reason is very simple, if people see a product and like it, why would they buy a plain one?

Isopop mentioned: in the form of firmware updates, has been disastrous though. I can tell people that I don’t like what had been done before; I am here to bring change and let’s look forward it.

As said before, Innovv™ is still making its first early steps and has a long way to go. Isoprop questioned if the C1 has a chance of success in the long run? I say: Yes! Because of our rich experience, knowledge in video quality and our strength in development that people have seen over years, Plus now the changes in strong brand awareness, a passion for development and support from people in the forums and communities can help bring success. Do you not agree?

The story behind the development of the 808 #11, #16, #26, Mobius, and Innovv

As a successor to the 808 #16 720p HD keychain camera, the Mobius action camera is a resounding success; everyone is talking about its decent video quality, friendly operation experience and the low price.

Apart from the Mobius, some people know #26, the world’s first 1080p 808 pin hole keychain camera which also has excellent video quality. #26 is the successor of 808 #18 keychain camera.
If you are a member of RC group or visited Chucklohr, you would know both 808 #16 & #18 are successors of 808 #11.

What is the story of the 11# and the key chain cam?

Below is the story.

Thanks go to Charles Lohr, Sep 24, 2009, Starting from #1, He first numbered the series of keychain cameras he received and reviewed. 808 was named because it is lucky number for Chinese. Below is a quote from Charles,

The 808 is a small color video camera with audio that also takes photos.  I received and reviewed my first 808 car keys micro camera (version #1) in September 2009. I received email from many other 808 owners, thank you, who described how the electronics and functions of their 808 were different than mine.  I started enumerating and documenting the many versions and this website grew. The video quality varies from poor to excellent.

With the reviews from Charles and comments like that below from users, 808 Keychain camera got big sales in the market. The eBay sellers in China brought the KeyChain cameras from the nameless manufacturers and sold thousands on the eBay stores in low possible price, and gained many quality complaints in return.

Wow.  It is so small, light weight, cheap and functional that it has been enthusiastically adopted by the model RC (radio controlled) airplane and helicopter community.  In spite of a few serious flaws in some versions of this camera (like poor reliability, poor image quality, poor audio quality, and a minimal human interface), this technology is amazing, and most people gladly put up with the quirks.

Being different from others ignoring the quality complaints, three guys hated the poor quality products," why not we make keychain cameras by ourselves, so we can control the quality?” They had rich knowledge in camera industry. From that, after Charles’s review, #11 was born.

Due to good quality control, #11 was soon be one of the best keychain cameras in Charles’ list, but the team of #11 got problem, the guy in charge of sales decided to leave the company and built own company with others, #16 was born accordingly. The two remaining guys from the team of #11 developed new #18.

One team became two, team of #16 and #18, which face intense competition with each other. Good at English and listen to people, the team of #16 soon got support from people in the forums, like Tom Frank, and others, #16 got to be more hot in the forums even if it had not technical support advantage at beginning. With more lens options, and friendly GUI setting tool, #16 was selling more than #18.

The competition gets to be hard by the technical development, #18 team developed DR32 by working with a Taiwan company, it has a great design with excellent 1080p video quality. Techmoan made a great review on it, and people introduced it to the different forums, the product became successful, but some of users found issues, so complained, the sales did not go to what were expected.

#18 team did not stop, based on the technical advantage on DR32, soon developed the world’s first 1080p keychain camera with the aluminum shell. As usual, #26 is a good product, has very excellent video quality, but un-friendly GUI setting which people are not satisfied.

#16 team worked on their own side, after a long time expectation, Mobius was introduced, we do not know how the name came, but the camera became hot soon by supporting from RC group and its video quality, friendly using experience and low price, which is a heavy hit on #26.

What is next?

Mobius could not be alone! It will enjoy challenge from the newcomer. With the support from #18 team, Innovv (http://www.innovv.com/) was born! Innovv C1 has excellent day and night video quality, movie auto flip, parking mode (G-sensor) and most important It's truly stylish and user friendly.

The big difference is what we learn from past and present experience. We are passionate about one thing, how to bring the value to our brand and product. By listening to end customer suggestion and needs, Our goal is -happy customer. From the logo design, product design, website design, packing design, Innovv achieves to be Stylish and Upscale- See it, Touch it, Like it!

All of our product design is because of competition. First we have #11 because of #1, #16 competed with #18, now Innovv C1 is competing with Mobius who win #26.

Because of competition, people now have more choices. If low price is the most important, Mobius may be better, if you like the product to be Stylish and Upscale with superior video quality- Innovv C1 is the best. We are happy to see people have both of them.

The essence of life is struggle and competition, Struggle and competition are stimulating. – Rockefeller.

Ultimately, People like Tom Frank and others who have been involved or participated in this story may read this blog and we will be pleased to listen from their point of view and suggestions. Why not?
