Summary

The INNOVV K1 front and rear onboard video recording camera system is an outstanding example of the technologies and capabilities available to motorcyclists today.

It is a complete front- and rear-facing video camera and recording system (aka "dash cam"), featuring well-made components.

The K1 on-board camera recording system can be used for personal video recording and/or traffic monitoring.

While we may not want to accept the need for this technology, it is a fact of life for many of us, unfortunately.

The INNOVV K1 motorcycle kit contains almost everything needed to get up and running in short order and the installation should be relatively easy.

The only things missing from the kit are flat or U-bracket mounts for the cameras (accessory mounts are listed on the website) or a handlebar bracket to go along with the included holder for the K1's DVR control module.

There is a lot of flexibility in where and how the front and rear cameras are mounted and everyone seems to have a different approach ranging from the simple to the complex -- the choice is yours.

One or both camera lens modules can be used with the system and aiming is up to you, but the most effective setup is a wide-angle front and rear configuration, with video recording loops set for short or longer segments.

The default mode on the K1 is an automatic start for recording as soon as the ignition is turned on.

But the system also has motion activation and G-sensor or shock-based modes and both of these provide automatic file locking or saving of what could be critical video and audio files.

As an operational system that I use on a daily basis, the INNOVV K1 is proving to be ultra-reliable and extremely valuable.

The system is also designed for "set and forget" operations, but there are many other options and it's important to review the recorded video once in a while, if only to learn more about defensive strategies in traffic situations you might have missed.

So no matter what it is used for -- fun video recording or serious "dash cam" video monitoring -- the K1 is an excellent investment with the potential of a significant return.

Bay Area traffic is horrible. With all the texting, selfies, spilled coffee, and “Lanesharing?
NOT ON MY WATCH” idiocy that takes place, I wanted a reliable “evidence collection” camera for my commute rides. I have a handful of “action cameras” that would capture the carnage and prove my light was green, but I have to remember to charge them, bring them with me, and worry about battery life / memory card capacity every ride time I ride, otherwise the whole thing is pointless.
Oh, and I have to remember to hit the record button.

I wanted to ride without having to worry about charging batteries and changing memory cards. I wanted to turn the key on and go, as if I didn’t have to record my every move, just in case.

The Innovv C3 hits on all cylinders. The system consists of a bullet lens that plugs into a separate camera box (or DVR, if you prefer) via an HDMI cable. As with other cameras, there are multiple mounting options, ranging from helmet to handlebars. A simple switch on the side allowsyou to choose between single recording, continuous recording, or flashlight. No, “flashlight” is not some new ultra-HD compression tech! it’s just a single LED flashlight.

On the DVR, there are three buttons that allow you to change recording modes, start and stop recording, and turn the unit off. Also on the DVR is a multi-color LED that indicates what mode the C3 is in!red for 1080p / 30fps, green for 720p / 60fps, orange for 3 megapixel photos. All files are
recorded onto a microSD card, which you must supply.

Innovv sent us two lenses, one with a 90-degree field of view and another with wider 120-degree coverage. Standard kits (the ones you guys are gonna go buy after
reading this) include one or the other. Also in the box are data cables, power converters
and cables (for hardwiring, like my setup), and various mounting options for the lens, including helmet and tripod screw mounts!which are very versatile for permanent mounting.

The two recording methods are pretty much what they sound like. The single recording mode will fill the card up once and stop, while the continuous recording mode will “loop,” overwriting the earliest
files when the card runs out of space. Hello dashcam.

Both lenses are waterproof!perfect for optional external mic, but it plugs into the same port that I needed for power.

Speaking of plugging things in!the camera must have a lens attached to connect to a computer and adjust settings such as file size. That’s a significant problem if you want to permanently mouth the whole shebang, which was my plan. Fortunately, I had two lenses, and only mounted one.

Video capture has been completely reliable. I start the bike, the C3 starts recording. I end up with a folder full of smallish video files, which sounds like a mess, but actually turns out to be ok. Looking for specific footage? Easy, just look for the time stamps around the time your footage would have been captured. No more scrolling through a giant video file to find three seconds of footage.

Customer support is available through email, and while there is sometimes a little lost in translation, they’re responsive and I was able to get all of my questions answered.

Although it has some connectivity limitations, these shortcomings are easy to overlook, and the C3’s excellent video quality, two-piece form factor and hardwire capability make it a perfect commuter cam. I’ll be adding one to all of my bikes.

INNOVV 2CH Full HD Motorycle Recording System

Hi Innovv, 

I have been in the market for a good dual camera set up for my bike after an accident tore my bike apart and I was unable to find the guy who did it after he ran. The snake lenses are a stroke of genius and exactly what I'm looking for, however, I was hoping to find a dual set up to cover both front and back. 

I was wondering if there were any plans to add a dual lens camera to the line up. You offer a product that is exactly what bikers are looking for, no useless frills like a screen I'll never use. Just 2 waterproof lens I can mount where I need, and a camera I can mount under the seat which provides all the security, safety from impact, and water protection we need. The only thing more I could ask for is a dual lens hub to stream line a dual set up like I am planning. Truth be told, I will probably buy 2 singles if there is no plan to create a dual lens set up and just replace the hub if an upgrade is ever made.

I appreciate any incite with your future plans for this product.

We received many messages asked for dual motorcycle recording system, and now we are working on this new development and would like to discuss with inmates about features and specifications. 

The new development has a recording unit with a 2.7" screen for easy setting, live recording review, and two wired lenses, a wired recording control button, GPS is an optional. 

The first question is what is the length of front lens, and what length is the rear lens?
The C3 lens cable is 1.5m.

One Inmate told me front is 1.5m, and real is 0.5m, he has Ninja 650.

Two lens has cube shape solid aluminum case, the size is width x depth x high= 29mm x 37mm x 29mm. It would be similar as the below photos. 

There are 3 x 1/4" screw holes on top, left, right side, That design is for "L" shape basket mounting.

Innovv C3 motorcycle "dash"cam installed on the R1200GS / 2011

"Just install, wire the power in, set to Loop and forget it until you need the footage." (Voz comment)

Set-up using a old radio-front box under the (GSA) seat of the R1200GS / 2011 to suit the Innovv C3 recording-unit.

Installed a 12 to 5 volt (USB) converter under the tool box area and is connected from the switch power (fusebox) to the recording-unit, so it starts recording when the power is on.

The cam itself is behind the windscreen to give it a bit more protection against rain and dust.
I do get some reflection from the bike-screen but that doesn't bother me for the way I use the cam :-)

BMW F700GS with Innovv C3

I powered the control unit from a USB power adaptor I have installed on the bike. I’m using the shorter supplied USB PC cable, not the 2 wire DC USB power cable. That permits me unplug the cable form the power outlet and plug it into my tablet or smartphone using an OTG [On The GoUSB cable] or direct into my laptop to download the files without directly accessing the C3 unit or unplugging the micro SD card.

C3 camera installed above Hi Beam headlight. Note the bracket is a temporary mock up to test vibration (none) and placement (works for me). I’ll cut this down and weld it up and paint it flat black to match headlight back shell. Cable is yet to be concealed into the bodywork. Note - this bracket looks like its sitting on the top of the headlight shell, it is not, it’s a 2-3mm above it

I made a small round cut into the lower edge of the screen to provide clearance for the camera. This stops the screen vibrating the camera. Note the screen is a powerbronze model screen, not the stock screen, but the same could be done to the stock screen.

I used the supplied INNOVV threaded clip to hold camera bolted thru the mock up bracket. I side mounted it to get the overall height closer to the top of the headlight and reduce the cut out to the screen. Note the bracket is a rough mock up out of a couple of pieces of 3mm steel and will be rebuilt as a single piece without the nut and bolt shown.  I removed the inner washer from the LH headlight bolt and put the camera bracket in its place and re-bolted the headlight thru the camera bracket.

I have tried the control unit in two locations, both under the false tank cover as there is not much room under the seat in this model.  I will probably move the unit into my top box when I get an extension Mini HDMI cable.

The above position is on top of the airbox and there is approx. 25mm between the air box and the false cover. This could probably do with a plexi cover over it to stop any driving rain coming from the left (front) over the battery and into the control unit. The Blue Tack is my way of securing and sealing the slide switch on the control unit. The white stuff is self-adhesive Velcro holding the unit in place onto the top of the airbox.

This other position just works as well, moving the unit further back. With half of the sticky Velcro still attached to the unit, it makes a snug fit that does not move around at all. Extra HDMI Cable length is coiled into the valley between the airbox and the battery, just above the white Velcro in the image above.

He made videos for C1, and new presentation for C3, He is skilled and the videos are very impressive, below is my most favorite one, it is easy and pleasant to watch.

I hope he can see this blog and reach us soon, maybe, who knows?

INNOVV C3, The Next Step

We made the move.

DashCamTalk and INNOVV

Nowadays a product could not live without the online community, that’s because everyone is buying online now instead of going to local stores where they can physically test the products. Before clicking the ‘pay’ button, People need to learn from others experience if a product is good enough, so the communities for sharing and discussing are very important for a product to build their reputation.

I have discussed with Isoprop (we had un-friendly discussions on the forum before). See it, Touch it, Like it, Innovv keep focusing on design and develop the products people will be pleased to have. I am not going to think about how to compete with Mobius, instead we have respect for each other. After C1, C2 were released, I fully understood you cannot build a brand and develop a great product in one day. You need to learn from your mistakes and people’s feedback and make improvements, and that takes time. DashCamTalk, is the right forum for listening and learning. We will release the C3 in coming monthes, and later C4 and I’m sure the improvements that have been made will be welcomed and INNOVV will be trusted by people.

This letter is from the Innovv team with greetings and a look forward to what’s planned for the coming year.

We have been thrilled by the response to the Innovv C1 and C2 we introduced, most notably by RC Groups users and people on the DashCamTalk forum.

As people have learned from our blogs, Innovv was born for people on the forums.
When I first saw how active the discussion was on the forums about the key chain cams I was really surprised. There were questions, answers, posts of support and posts against.  After reading pages and pages of posts I understood that people love to share their experiences, not only for a camera which is tiny in size, has good video quality and is user friendly, but also to share the fun of their hobby! 
Hopefully the Innovv will fulfill people’s hobby and bring fun too? We have seen some interesting photos from people on the forums for our new Innovv already.

In 2014, we will make significant improvements regarding the points below to build Innovv into a trusted brand with a good reputation amongst users.

More close communication with people.
Our website now has around 3000 monthly unique visitors.  People are viewing our new product introduction, specifications, downloading new FW and shopping.  Our target for 2014 is to double this to 6000!

The monthly blog page viewings are 2000 and the first blog I posted to RC Groups had a daily visit which reached 680. I like to write a blog because in it I can share my thoughts and ideas to users and potential buyers. 5000 monthly page views is the target in 2014.

The forums and posts.  Innovv improvement and update depends on the forums. This year it is in RC groups and DashCamTalk and in 2014 will be introduced to more forums.  Posts to communicate with people are very important though I hesitated to make my first post because I was worried because English is not my native tongue. It’s encouraging that people are happy to see the developer on a forum answering questions first hand. In the new  year I’ll spend more time communicating with people on forums and hopefully will improve the quality of my posts!

The new development and upgrading.
After the C1, we soon introduced the C2 to people after learning more of people’s needs. I expect in 2014, people will see new features and functions. The product development has finished, but upgrading is just beginning. New FW updates and GUI improvements will be made too. 

Shipping and delivery.
We have had 3 parcels lost on the way to the UK. Everyday people are asking me, where is my camera?Un-Safe and not fast shipping is a big headache for us.  We are working on solutions to this problem and our target for 2014 is a 7 day delivery time, or even better, 4 days after purchasing. That way people will be happier to buy.

Regardless of these challenges, we are pushing ahead to create a successful 2014. This is the spirit that will put Innovv at the forefront of the industry, fulfill people’s hobbies and create fun!

I am so proud of all the changes and improvements the team made and it’s good to know that we are not alone and are supported by people on the forums who encourage us to do our best work.
